The Witcher

The witcher Geralt of Rivia, a trained and highly skilled monster-slayer, awakens to find that he has lost most of his memories. He joins forces with his fellow witchers to fend off an attack on their fortress, Kaer Morhen, by the enigmatic Salamandra organization. Though most of their foes are vanquished, two of their most formidable adversaries—the rogue known as "Professor" and the sorcerer Azar Javed—escape after breaking into the witchers' laboratories. Geralt departs from his comrades and journeys to the capital city of Vizima in search of answers about the attackers.

Set in a dark and treacherous world, The Witcher is a tale of war, murder, poverty, genocide, discrimination, torture, and fanaticism. Humans rule the land, and non-humans, such as elves and dwarves, are subject to suspicion and cruel treatment. Will Geralt succumb to sentimentality or become a hardened killer? Such choices are for the player to make. With an original combat system and character growth mechanics, the game provides the player with the tools to master the art of combat and magic, as well as to make difficult moral decisions with lasting effects.
